Locating private water lines
Planning a water-service replacement, irrigation installation or excavation near a private water line? Meridian reviews the work area, available records and accessible connection points before choosing a tracing method. Detectability depends on pipe material, tracer continuity, access, congestion and site conditions. A plastic pipe without a usable tracer may need a different investigation method. Send the site location and scope so we can confirm whether our equipment and access are suitable. Locating identifies a route where feasible; it is not leak detection or plumbing repair.
Coordination for contractors
Before trenching or boring, send the excavation limits, project location, planned work date, site contact and available utility records. Meridian will review private-line locating, supplemental verification and optional mapping needs, then confirm scope and availability. For repeat sites, ask about consistent documentation and an agreed request process. Pricing and recurring arrangements require an approved quote or agreement.

Can every pipe be located?
No. Material, access, tracer wire, signal conditions, and depth affect detectability. We explain unresolved areas rather than treating an inconclusive result as an all-clear.
Does this include plastic pipes?
Some nonmetallic lines can be traced using accessible tracer wire or a traceable rodder. Access and site conditions determine feasibility; discuss the specific line when requesting service.
